City Council Quarterly Review
Every decision the City Council makes helps shape quality of life in Normandy Park, from public safety and
infrastructure to parks, community events, and housing. To help residents stay informed, below is a summary
of key actions, projects, and community initiatives the City Council discussed and approved between June
and August 2026.

✔Ordinance No. 1087 revising the Low Impact
Development Regulations - Low Impact
Development (LID) techniques help manage
stormwater in ways that mimic natural systems.
These approaches reduce runoff, improve water
quality, and help protect local waterways. This
ordinance updated the City’s code to align with state stormwater
requirements and modern best practices. The code now clarifies when
drainage review is required and updates the City’s stormwater and
development regulations to better align with current stormwater
manual requirements.

✔Ordinance No. 1088 revising the City’s Telecommunications
Standards - The Council approved updates to regulations for
wireless communication facilities. The revised rules provide clearer
standards for where equipment can be located and how it should be
designed, particularly near residential areas. The intent is to provide
a clearer pathway for cell providers to install improved equipment to
enhance wireless service while protecting neighborhood character
and community appearance.

✔Ordinance No. 1089 revising the City’s Fireworks Regulations
- The Council approved amendments to the City’s fireworks
regulations to accommodate professional fireworks displays
associated with the America 250 celebration and future community
events. The changes provide greater flexibility for organizing public
displays while also aligning display hours more closely with the
hours currently allowed for consumer fireworks.

✔Resolution No. 1034 adopting the Six-Year Transportation
Improvement Program - The Council adopted the City’s
2027–2032 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP). The
TIP identifies transportation priorities and is required for many
grant opportunities. This year’s plan continues to prioritize safety
improvements, including new midblock pedestrian crossings
identified in the City’s recently completed Local Road Safety Plan.

✔Resolution No. 1035 accepting a New Trail Easement -
The Council accepted a pedestrian easement from a property
owner to support the future expansion of the City’s trail system.
This partnership creates an opportunity to improve pedestrian
connectivity, expand recreational opportunities, and make it easier
for residents to walk safely throughout the community.
