Staff is currently developing the City’s 2027–2028 Biennial Budget, an important document that establishes priorities, goals, and the funding plan for the next two years. Creating the budget is one of local government’s most important responsibilities. The budget serves as a roadmap for how the City will provide services, maintain infrastructure, invest in parks and public spaces, support public safety, and address community priorities. Every dollar spent is carefully evaluated to ensure that resources are used effectively and responsibly. As your local government, we are committed to being good stewards of public funds. Developing the budget involves balancing community needs with available resources while remaining mindful of long-term financial sustainability. Staff works diligently to identify efficiencies, prioritize essential services, and ensure that taxpayer dollars are invested in programs and projects that provide the greatest benefit to the community. We are also pleased to report that the Citizen Budget Advisory Group is currently meeting with staff to learn more about City operations and the resources required to support the services residents rely on every day. Through these discussions, participants gain a deeper understanding of the challenges and opportunities involved in developing a balanced budget while providing valuable community perspectives that help inform the process. Public participation is an important part of budget development. Residents will have an opportunity to learn more about the proposed budget and provide input during a public hearing at the November 10th regular City Council meeting.
