Thanks to continued
investment, research,

equipped to address emerging
challenges like stormwater pollution.
Ways You Can Help Protect Our
Creeks and Salmon
1. Adopt-a-Drain
Volunteer just 15 minutes twice a
month to help keep our waterways
clean. Storm drains flow directly to
rivers, lakes, creeks, and ultimately
Puget Sound. By adopting a
neighborhood storm drain and
keeping it clear of leaves, trash, and
debris, you help reduce pollution and
prevent localized flooding.
2. Join the Community Salmon
Investigation (CSI)
The Community Salmon
Investigation (CSI) is a fun and
meaningful way to support local
salmon recovery. Volunteer teams
walk sections of Miller Creek and
Walker Creek from early October
through late December, collecting
important data on returning salmon
and watershed health.
3. Wash Your Car the Salmon-Safe
Way
Soap and dirty water from driveway
car washing can flow straight
into storm drains. Instead, use a
commercial car wash — or borrow a
FREE SudSafe Car Wash Kit from City
Hall.
The kit captures wash water before
it enters the storm drain and pumps
it to a grassy area or sewer. It includes
simple, step-by-step instructions
so you can enjoy a clean car while
protecting local creeks.
