his past May, the Tennessee 
Valley Authority announced 
the 2026 School Uplift grants 
that will bring meaningful 
upgrades to 121 schools across 
the Tennessee Valley. More than 
$3.3 million is being invested to 
help schools lower their energy costs, 
improve air quality and create more 
comfortable classrooms. 
Grant amounts awarded to the 
schools ranged from $10,000 to 
$210,000 and were based on each 
school’s achievements in cutting their 
energy waste and engaging their school 
community. Additionally, a needs-
based assessment determined which 
facilities could achieve the greatest 
energy savings.
