b'WANT FURTHER INFORMATION ON CAPE COD SHELLFISHOR BECOME A RECREATIONAL HARVESTER? Barnstable Clean Water Coalition has an Oyster Upweller at the bottom of the Cape Cod Maritime Museums parking lot, located on the boardwalk of Gateway Marina. During the summer months, the Upweller is a vital tool for nurturing oysters from spat to juvenile size by using water pumped from the harbor. It also serves as a visual demonstration of how oysters positively impact water quality and clarity through their natural filtration process of removing nutrients and sediment, highlighting their ecolog-ical role in enhancing the health of the surrounding aquatic environment. Permits are available at the city or town hall which allow for the harvest of shellfish. Check your towns website or contact your local Shellfish Constable for available grants and regulations.
